Chapter History
Alpha Xi Delta has been a national organization since 1893. The ten amazing women who founded our sorority at Lombard College in Galesburg, Illinois are Alice Bartlett Bruner, Almira Lowry Cheney, Frances Elisabeth Cheney, Bertha Cook Evans, Eliza Drake Curtis Everton, Julia Maude Foster, Lucy W. Gilmer, Harriet Luella McCollum, Lewie Strong Taylor, and our first president, Cora Bollinger Block. They had the vision of creating a close-knit sorority of women who valued knowledge, leadership, service, and sisterhood.
A little over a hundred years later, the Iota Nu chapter of Alpha Xi Delta came to Monmouth University on April 22, 2007. Ever since we were founded here at Monmouth, our chapter has continued to carry on the legacy of our first ten founders inspiring every one of our members to reach excellence.
